Free Claude Code: one proxy, many models

Free Claude Code is a proxy that lets Claude Code and ten other coding agents talk to models from other providers, including free tiers.

Alishahryar1/free-claude-code has about 62k stars. The README says it routes 11 coding agents through one catalog of 61 providers, and falls back to your next configured model when one fails. It claims 1.3B+ free tokens a month across free tiers, and says each provider controls its own free limits, which can change.

Three things to check before you rely on it:

  1. 1The license. The LICENSE file says AGPL-3.0-only, which has obligations when you offer it over a network. GitHub's API reports the license as unrecognized, so read the file yourself.
  2. 2The disclaimer. The README says it's independent and not affiliated with Anthropic.
  3. 3The installer. The quick start pipes a script into sh. Download it and read it first.

It also mentions optional token savers, RTK and Headroom, and claims up to 90% lower token usage. That's the author's number, so measure it on your own prompts.

Would you route your coding agent through a proxy you didn't write?
